An established, but rapidly expanding transport and logistics business based in Bellville, Cape Town is seeking four (4) highly organized and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join their team asap.
The Assistant Accountant will play a vital role in supporting various accounting functions, including accounts payable. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable: Approving vendor invoices, verifying accuracy, and ensuring timely payments. Reconciling vendor statements, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining vendor relationships. Assisting with the preparation of accounts payable aging reports and analysis.
Bank Reconciliation: Reconciling bank accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies, and ensuring accurate recording of transactions.
Compliance: Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, standards, and regulations. Staying up-to-date with changes in accounting standards and assisting in implementing new policies and procedures as needed.
Qualifications:
Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
1-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in the transportation or logistics industry.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Salary: R 16000 and R19 000 basic salary, based on skills and experience.
