Artisan: Millwright (Kolomela) Company : Komatsu South Africa Location : Kolomela Service, Northern Cape, South Africa Business Unit : South Africa | Division: Operations | Department: Klm Service2 Reference Number : 3824 Requisition ID : 6225 Closing Date : 15 January 2025 Introduction Komatsu Kolomela is seeking an experienced Millwright Artisan to join its dynamic team.
The successful candidate will bring expertise in heavy earthmoving equipment maintenance and repair within the mining industry, with at least three years of post-trade experience and a Millwright Trade Certificate.
Job Responsibilities Health, Safety, and Environment (SHE) Adhere to health and safety policies and procedures.
Conduct hazard identification and risk assessments.
Participate in SHE campaigns and events.
Maintain awareness of emergency protocols, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers.
Operate vehicles safely and ensure safety standards are met.
Inspection and Reporting Conduct visual inspections of equipment for appearance, damage, and operational issues.
Inspect for leakages, rust, missing parts, and other abnormalities.
Test and adjust faulty components or systems.
Report inspection findings, including abnormalities or damage.
Complete daily activity and service reports.
Maintenance and Repairs Execute mechanical and electrical repairs, including basic welding.
Plan and execute equipment servicing, including date, resources, and workshop coordination.
Perform troubleshooting to identify and resolve faults.
Overhaul equipment following procedural standards.
Inspect equipment for compliance and quality post-repair.
Stock and Resource Management Obtain consumables, parts, and tools as per approved procedures.
Return unused consumables and parts to inventory.
Report on service and repair results.
Technical Collaboration and Continuous Improvement Remain informed about technical updates and changes.
Provide feedback for continuous improvement and operational enhancements.
Obtain technical advice for complex troubleshooting and repair issues.
Requirements Qualifications Grade 12/N3 Technical Certificate or equivalent.
Certified Millwright Trade Certificate .
Experience Minimum 3 years of experience working on heavy earthmoving equipment in the mining industry.
Specific Knowledge Requirements Familiarity with earthmoving machinery.
Strong troubleshooting skills on machines.
Proficiency in using standard tools.
Computer literacy .
Understanding of maintenance philosophies.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Valid driver's license .
