ARCHITECTURAL ASSISTANT (Two Positions)

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent will be required to deliver architectural services and contribute towards the objectives of the Department of Facilities Management. Process, coordinate and compile information on the University buildings in BIM (Building Information Modelling) software. Provide Architectural Services according to South African Council of Architectural Profession (SACAP).
Responsibilities will include:
Architectural Services;
BIM Coordination;
Administration.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Relevant Bachelors/BTech degree OR National Diploma;
3 years working experience (with Bachelors/B-tech) in an Architectural environment, drafting of building & structures and managing building processes. BIM Coordination experience;
5 years working experience (with National Diploma) in an Architectural environment, drafting of building & structures and managing building processes. BIM Coordination experience;
Valid driver's license.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):
Working knowledge of the National Building Regulations and related legislation;
Working knowledge of general building constructions and specifications;
Knowledge of surveying methods and techniques;
Experience in facilities information systems;
Advanced computer skills in Autodesk REVIT or similar;
Interpersonal and organisational skills;
Skilled in statistical calculations;
Accuracy;
Sense of responsibility and professionalism;
Knowledge of liaising with local government or authority;
Knowledge of feasibility studies related to buildings and sites;
Ability to convey information clearly and concisely to groups or individuals either verbally or in writing to ensure that they understand the information and the message;
Ability to accomplish tasks and processes accurately and completely;
Ability to be relied upon to ensure that projects within areas of responsibilities are completed in a timely manner;
Ability to develop plans to accomplish work operations and objectives, Ability to arrange and assign work to use resources efficiently;
Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with others to encourage and support communication and teamwork;
The ability to communicate and liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Head of Departments, faculty managers, project managers, safety representatives, municipal authorities and private consulting professionals in the building industry.
ADDED ADVANTAGES AND PREFERENCES:
Qualifications in computer supported drafting (CAD) REVIT or similar;
Registration with South African Council for Architectural Profession (SACAP).
PLEASE NOTE: All shortlisted candidates may be required to participate in relevant skills assessments as part of the selection process.
The annual remuneration package will be commensurate with the incumbent's level of appointment, as determined by UP policy guidelines. UP subscribes to the BESTMED and UMVUZO medical aid schemes and contributes 50% of the applicable monthly premium.
