Our staff is dedicated to providing clients with functional, beautiful, sustainable, and future-focused projects in K-12 education, higher education, civic, sports and recreation, healthcare, religious, commercial, multi-family and mixed-use, and industrial sectors.
VCBO is seeking an experienced architect with 10+ years of experience to join our architectural group in our St. George, Utah, office. VCBO has a passion for excellence and a strong group of people who respect each other and enjoy working together.
Position SummaryThis is a full-time position for an architect with experience working on a variety of projects, including programming, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development. The successful candidate will have experience in preparing drawings for schematic design and design development, as well as experience in preparing preliminary design studies and adaptations of alternatives for review and contract documents, including details, sections, elevations, and schedules. They will produce amendments, addenda, and bulletins and complete self-checks for accuracy, omissions, and legibility. The architect will exercise creative judgment and design application skills in preparing client presentation materials, including design sketches, renderings, models, and graphics. They will assist in preparing adaptations and technical alternatives for project team review, bringing knowledge of architectural detailing, current construction standards, and building systems.
QualificationsTECHNICAL SKILLSBasic computer and internet skills are requiredExperience in Revit, Sketchup, and RhinoProficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointKnowledge and understanding of project management softwareExperience:Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture required10+ years experience in architectureLicensed architect (desired but not required)LEED Accredited Professional (desired but not required)Strong knowledge of Autodesk Revit Architecture and SketchUpExperience managing others along with excellent verbal and communication skillsSelf-motivatedFlexibility to focus on a single client with a variety of project types or multiple projects in various stages of developmentExperience in compiling data, performing elementary design computations, and performing area calculations according to specified standardsKnowledge of building codesAble to complete the permitting process with the aid and supervision of a team leaderKnowledge of addenda and construction change directive proceduresAbility to review and respond to submittal and RFI documentation with sufficient knowledge and understanding of the project type and industry
