Deloitte is looking for an Application Portfolio Manager to join a client in the West Rand for at least 12 months on contract, per below: Role:                                   Application Portfolio Manager – Operations Duration:                            12 months, with a long-term view Arrangement:                      First few week – onsite full time, thereafter Hybrid (3 times per week onsite) Location:                             Randfontein, West Rand Start:                                  January 2025 to December 2025 Scope:                                Assistance and Management of the design, build, integration, and mapping of Applications to successful solution delivery Emphasis needs to be placed on Application Management, integration, dependency mapping, dependency management, and Intergration Management of solution delivery and future software design The client supports 300+ software solutions, of various magnitudes, inclusive of ERP solutions.
The role encompasses a large portfolio, and needs a candidate who can be accountable Travel would be required – client sites in Gauteng and North West.
Possible international site travel by mid-2025.
  Summary: The Application Portfolio Operational Manager is responsible for overseeing the operational aspects of managing the organization's third-party application landscape.
This role involves leading and coordinating teams that manage configuration processes, dependency mapping, and relationships across applications, hosting environments, integrations, and supporting infrastructure.
The manager ensures that application inventory management, lifecycle processes, and roadmap development are implemented effectively and align with organizational goals.
CONFIGURATION AND DEPENDENCY MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT Oversee the standardization and execution of application configuration processes.
Provide guidance on using tools like Configuration Management Databases (CMDB) to track and manage dependencies effectively.
APPLICATION LANDSCAPE INVENTORY MANAGEMENT Ensure the organization maintains an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all applications, including configurations, hosting environments, and vendor details.
APPLICATION LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT (ALM) Lead teams in planning and managing the full lifecycle of applications, from onboarding to decommissioning.
Oversee the identification and retirement of redundant or outdated applications to optimize the portfolio.
Ensure lifecycle strategies align with business goals and minimize operational risks.
APPLICATION ROADMAP DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION Collaborate with business stakeholders to develop and maintain application roadmaps that align with strategic goals.
Monitor industry trends, vendor roadmaps, and emerging technologies to inform roadmap priorities.
Oversee the implementation of roadmap initiatives, including upgrades, replacements, and modernizations.
VENDOR AND SLA MANAGEMENT Develop, implement and manage solution Demand Forecast processes to plan and manage resource requirements for technology deployment and management.
Manage relationships with third-party vendors to ensure compliance with contracts and SLAs.
Collaborate with vendors on effectively deploying upgrades, effective release management and updates, support, issue resolution and product roadmaps.
HOSTING ENVIRONMENT AND INTEGRATION MANAGEMENT Ensure hosting environments (cloud, on-premise, or hybrid) are secure, cost-efficient, and meet performance requirements.
Develop, deploy and maintain solution performance measurements, metrics and tools.
GOVERNANCE, RISK, AND COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT Establish governance frameworks for managing the application landscape and operational processes.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards across all third-party applications.
PERFORMANCE MONITORING AND REPORTING Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for application performance, operational efficiency, and team productivity.
Oversee the creation of dashboards and reports to track the health and value of the application portfolio.
Lead root-cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives for operational issues.
QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field (Master's preferred).
7+ years of experience in IT operations, application management, or a similar role.
3+ years of experience in a leadership or management position.
Certifications in ITIL, COBIT, PMP, or equivalent frameworks are a plus.
Experience with third-party applications, SaaS, PaaS, and related technologies.
KEY SUCCESS METRICS Accuracy and completeness of the application inventory.
Operational efficiency of configuration and dependency management processes.
Successful implementation of lifecycle and roadmap initiatives.
Vendor performance and SLA compliance.
Reduced downtime and improved application performance.
