The funds managed by CIP focus on investments in offshore and onshore wind, solar PV, biomass and energy-from-waste, transmission and distribution, reserve capacity, storage, advanced bioenergy, and Power-to-X.About the RoleWe are seeking an Accounting Officer with a strong foundation in accounting principles and practices, particularly within the renewable energy sector.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements for our renewable energy projects.Goals and ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for renewable energy projects, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries.Prepare and process invoices, track payments, and manage accounts payable and receivable for projects.Prepare and load Purchase Orders and liaise with project team to ensure appropriate documentation is received and POs are routed to the correct department.Perform vendor verification which includes banking confirmation.Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash management and reporting.Collaborate with the finance team to support the development and monitoring of project budgets.Monitor project expenses, review cost reports, and identify cost-saving opportunities.Assist in the coordination of financial audits, prepare necessary documentation, and liaise with external auditors.Maintain organized and comprehensive financial records, ensuring documentation is readily accessible for audits and reporting.Communicate financial information and insights to project managers, senior management, and other stakeholders, tailoring reports to their needs.Stay updated with evolving regulations and standards within the renewable energy sector, ensuring the company's adherence.Assist with training for new joiners.Required Skills and Educational BackgroundDiploma in Finance or basic bookkeeping qualification.A minimum of two years of relevant accounting experience, with exposure to the renewable energy sector preferred.Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.Knowledge of South African tax regulations related to renewable energy projects.Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.Effective communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Act with high levels of integrity and accountability.Desirable AttributesThe ideal candidate would have a passion for the Renewable Energy sector and personality traits would include a high level of diligence, determination, resilience, and agility.Mulilo is an employer of choice and is offering an extremely competitive total remuneration package for this position.Additional InformationAble to work overtime according to operational needs.
