Introduction As an AML Analyst, you will be assisting the AML Officer and the Chief Compliance Officer in ensuring that all AML/CFT reporting requirements are timeously done in accordance with regulatory timelines. You will provide support to the AML officer by ensuring continuous self-development in AML trends and typologies and assist the AML officer in advising and providing training to staff where necessary.
The Role To assist the AML Officer and Chief Compliance Officer to formulate the Risk Management and Compliance Program as per S42 of the Act by conducting the following tasks:
Formulating step by step AML/CFT ProceduresConduct analysis of static data for the risk calculatorAssist in the implementation of the risk calculator and risk assessment guideUpdate CDD requirements including the verification matrixUpdate the client information form to incorporate approved requirementsWhere applicable, compile an implementation plan for the remediation of CDD for all clients when CDD requirements are updatedCompile an implementation plan for the re-identification of all clientsMonitor and conduct screening (Name, Payment and Vessel Screening)Transaction MonitoringPerform, review and monitor activities under the RE-ID programmeConduct Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD)Responsible for Level 1 review and sign off of all payments alerted on the NGS Payments Screening System as a result of a match against the sanctions listEnsure that all payments that alert are investigated and cleared from the queue timeouslyLevel 1 review and sign off on all manual vessel screening and paymentsLevel 1 review and sign off on all name screening hits identified through the NGS Name Screening System, ensuring that all positive matches are investigated and have a relevant impact on the client's risk ratingEnsure that all name screening hits are investigated and signed off within 5 business daysAssist the AML Specialists in ensuring all cases are attended to within 48 hours of the generation date with a view to determine whether a report should be submitted to the FICEnsure that any STRs identified are reportedKeep a register of all clients according to their risk ratingAdvise the Corporate Banking Department, Treasury Department and Cape Town on clients to be reviewed as, and when, they are dueConduct 1st review of the completed Re-Identification process of clients and advise frontline departments on documents neededClient On-Boarding: Conducting pre-screening; complete an enhanced due diligence when necessary; review and sign off client files; review the client information captured on the core banking system; conduct level 1 investigation and sign off on the name screening results and conduct level 1 review and sign off of the Risk Rating sectionEnhanced Due Diligence (EDD)GoAML (Section 27, 32 and 34 Requests from the FIC)Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA) and Guarantee ScreeningAssist with AML related projects according to Business and legislative requirementsProvide guidance to business in terms of medium high risk transactions and clientsEnsure that there is a current understanding of money laundering, terrorist financing and proliferation financing issues, including regulations, industry best practice and criminal typologies and developing trendsProvide frontline departments with feedback on all screening results where there has been significant adverse information identifiedWork Experience The ideal candidate for this role will have 3 years' Banking experience and 3 years AML/CFT experience. Knowledge of the Banking Sector and the relevant AML regulation is essential.
Qualifications and Skills The type of qualifications and skills we are looking for include the following: Must have knowledge of basic computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, Adobe PDF, and PowerPoint. A formal tertiary qualification is essential; ACAMs (Desirable); Compliance Institute of South Africa (Desirable); must have excellent observational skills; must have excellent analytical and investigative skills; strong critical thinking skills; strong written and verbal communication skills; sound decision-making skills. The ideal candidate must also have the ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple projects and be a self-starter. He/she must also have the ability to work within a team.
