Job Description OMART Life is a cell captive insurer within Old Mutual. It is a separately managed life insurance company with various internal and external clients. This position within OMART Life , offers you the opportunity to form part of a diverse, growing life insurance business which provides unique innovative solutions to clients and entrepreneurs looking to transfer their risks through various insurance structures.
Role Overview The Product Actuarial Expert will play a pivotal role in delivering OMART Life's value proposition and product solutions to its clients and stakeholders. The incumbent will be expected to drive product initiatives for clients that contribute to the OMART Life commercials and client experience. They are responsible for supporting the delivery of our clients' product strategies, needs and prioritisation. They also ensure that the client's go-to-market strategy, sales, distribution are all aligned with our customer fairness principles.
Key Result Areas Understand client needs and support with development and review of clients' product solutions. This includes reviewing new products, product enhancements and pricing for existing clients and prospective clients.
Support with developing a product strategy aligned to the business strategy to ensure alignment to business growth and sustainability.
Cultivate and manage objective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders including clients and reinsurance partners.
Deliver exceptional service that exceeds clients' expectations through proactive, innovative and appropriate solutions.
Implement and maintain sound business processes that minimise product risk while delivering quality requirements specifications.
Deliver on designated product development projects from inception to final execution, including post implementation evaluation.
Monitor and analyse product financials, KPIs, customer feedback, and the competitive landscape to identify gaps, weaknesses and opportunities in any part of product delivery.
Analyse overall product health including the business prioritization of backlog, ongoing product support and product sunset strategies.
Manage 1st party cell clients needs and deliveries from a product perspective and as the client relationship manager
Requirements Nearly/newly qualified actuary
Minimum of 5 – 7 years' product related actuarial experience in life insurance
Experience in product management, risk preferred
Strategic thinker with experience building new products as well as adapting existing products to enhance value for clients
Problem-solving, design-thinking, customer-centric mindset
Highly proactive with a positive "can do" attitude
Excellent communication skills, cross functionally and at all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders
Exceptional interpersonal skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners and internal teams.
Ability to work independently and work on a wide range of deliverables at once
Strong collaborator that is adept at leading through influence
Experience thriving in complex, small organisations
