Role Purpose
An opportunity exists for an actuarial student within the Corporate Actuarial team that focuses on the Momentum Corporate Group Risk Product Range, which includes Group Life, Group Funeral, Permanent Health Insurance (PHI) and Lump Sum Disability. The individual will be responsible for performing quarterly valuations and analysing, evaluating and reporting on financial results of group risk products. The individual will also be involved in periodic experience investigations, data and claims analysis, sensitivity testing and forecasting.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or equivalent required
At least 4 A series exams completed and making good progress with later exams
1 – 3 years relevant experience in an actuarial valuations and/or reporting role
Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities required
Good working knowledge of SQL and/or other databases/ programming languages are preferable
Duties & Responsibilities
Assist with the delivery of quarterly valuation results, including the preparation and analysis of data
Complete and analyse liability calculations and embedded value calculations to ensure that parameters used are accurate and results are reasonable
Analysis of profits to assist management to manage the book of business appropriately
Resolution of valuation issues with support from business as required
Assist with periodic experience investigations, data and claims analysis and sensitivity testing
Assume a product owner role for products allocated to ensure results are reasonable from a "statutory actuary" perspective
Assist to identify and implement process improvement in the valuation team
Ensure compliance with Group practices and timelines
