T he South African Sugar Association (SASA) has a permanent opportunity available for a n Accounts Assistant based in Mount Edgecombe.
The South African Sugar Association (SASA) provides a range of specialist services that enhance the profitability, global competitiveness and sustainability of the South African sugar industry.
The Finance Division provides Management Accounting, Financial Accounting, Taxation, Treasury, Payroll and associated services to SASA.
We have an excellent permanent opportunity for an Accounts Assistant, previously advertised as the Debtors Assistant.
This position is based in Mount Edgecombe, reports to the Financial Accountant and will be responsible for performing accounting activities relating to accounts receivable, fixed assets and cashbook in accordance with internal controls and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: Preparation and processing of all transactions relating to accounts receivable; Ensuring that the cashbook is reconciled to bank statement Ensuring that all cash receipts are banked timeously Processing of debtors Review of Debtors age analysis for delinquent debtors and initiate collection of overdue accounts Provision of assistance to the Financial Accountant in relation to accounts receivable reports Assisting in the processing and control of fixed asset transactions Assisting with the preparation and processing of general ledger journals Ensuring that all relevant general ledger accounts are reconciled monthly Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience: A 3-year Diploma in Accounting and/or a BCom degree Relevant experience in a centralized accounting environment Excellent working knowledge and experience with Syspro and Microsoft office packages Experience in accounting activities related to accounts payable will be an added advantage Aspects of SASA's Recruitment Policy applicable to this Vacancy: SASA recognises the need for employers in South Africa to contribute to transformation through active support for the provisions of the Employment Equity Act and Black Economic Empowerment legislation, and recognises the high level of unemployment in our country.
