Reporting to the South Africa Finance Controller, the Senior Specialist for Accounting, Tax and Controlling (AT&C) will have end-to-end responsibility for the US GAAP and local GAAP results of the respective legal entity. This includes all accounting, tax, treasury, and internal control-related matters performed locally or through partner teams (e.g., GDO). Collaboration with the Commercial Organization and various stakeholders, internal and external, is also essential.ResponsibilitiesResponsible for accurate and compliant results in the South Africa legal entities for US GAAP and local Accounting & Tax standards.Manage AtR, StS, OtC, and Tax teams in GDO to ensure objective achievement, continuity of processes, and succession planning.Ensure compliance with all global and local statutory accounting policies.Establish and manage methodology and GL accounts structure for US GAAP, statutory, and tax accounting.Establish and manage transfer pricing set-up and documentation.Establish and manage actual cost accounting.Monitor legislation changes and ensure timely implementation of required changes in SAP and accounting processes.Prepare and close books on a monthly basis.Manage the annual external audit and drafting of AFS.Timely submission of statutory and tax reporting to local tax authorities in accordance with legislation.Lead the Tax function by identifying and analyzing tax risks for the local legal entity; provide tax planning, support, and consulting for business, local finance, and global tax function initiatives; comply with international tax requirements; manage all types of tax audits; and serve as the contact point for local tax authorities and internal audit teams.Ensure appropriate archiving of all hard copy documents, including reporting forms, to ensure compliance with local legislation.Make decisions on statutory and tax-related processes, policies, and procedures.Manage all types of issues in statutory and tax areas as well as GAAP reporting.Support cross tax audits of vendors or customers.Perform and control balance sheet reconciliation.Apply SOX and non-SOX controls to local processes and generate oversight of the overall control environment linked to the local legal entity.Ongoing process optimization and support of new system implementations.Fixed Assets Accounting (GAAP, Statutory & Tax), Direct/Indirect Asset Capitalization, Value & Track of Fixed Assets, Perform Asset Disposals, and Obligatory physical inventory counting & tagging.Required Education, Experience and SkillsBachelor's degree in a relevant field or other related areas.Strong Tax & Audit experience.Minimum of seven years of experience in Finance/Accounting with a supervisory role.Strong knowledge in IFRS is an asset.Good level of MS Office applications usage and experience of SAP (key user).Understanding of business issues, including foreign currency impacts and deferred tax.Strong oral and written communication skills (English).Open-minded, pro-active, result-driven, and self-organized.Ability to take ownership.Client-oriented, conflict resolution/problem-solving skills.Strong analytical skills.Strong communication, organization, and managerial skills.Team player, self-disciplined, analytic and result-oriented, attentive to deadlines.Comfortable in an environment of changing technologies and processes; demonstrate flexibility to new ways of working.Open to work in flexible and flat (no hierarchy) teams.Ability to manage stakeholders in different locations.Strong interpersonal skills to work and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Works effectively under pressure and multitasks.Who We Are:Organon delivers ingenious health solutions that enable people to live their best lives.
