Job Title: Accounting Supervisor Department: Accounting Reports To: Accounting Manager Job Summary: The Accounting Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, monitor and analyze accounting data, and produce financial reports or statements.
This role requires a highly meticulous and analytical professional who embraces technology, possesses a strong understanding of accounting principles, and can lead a team to meet tight deadlines.
Key Responsibilities: Supervise and lead the accounting department staff, including accountants and clerks.
Oversee routine department activities , such as payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Implement and maintain internal financial controls and procedures.
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial information and summarize financial status by developing budgets, financial forecasts, and variance reports.
Coordinate and complete annual audits, providing recommendations for improvements.
Assist with tax audits and tax returns directly or through coordination with external tax accountants.
Support month-end and year-end close processes ensuring timely completion.
Ensure compliance with GAAP principles and company procedures.
Liaise with the firms clients to provide comprehensive accounting services and support.
Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field.
Professional certification (SAIPA , CIMA , CA(SA) etc.
) Proven experience as an accounting supervisor or senior accountant.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
Experience with creating financial statements and general ledger functions.
Familiarity with financial accounting statements and accounting software.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills .
Excellent leadership and communication abilities .
Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Working Conditions: Office environment with standard office hours .
Occasional overtime may be required during busy periods such as end-of-year reporting.
