Our client, a manufacturer of eco-friendly solid clay face bricks & pavers, is looking for an Accountant to join their team at their offices outside of Stellenbosch.Reporting to the CFO.REQUIREMENTS: QualificationsUniversity degree (B.Comm, B.Acc) with Article experience (Preferred)SAIPA (or similar) qualification Experience & Skills – Required:5-10 years Bookkeeping / Accounting experienceProficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Experience in Sage Pastel AccountingExperience in Sage Pastel PayrollFluent in EnglishRESPONSIBILITIES:Record Financial Transactions:Accurately capture and process all daily financial transactions into the accounting system.Maintain and update ledgers, journals, and records for all financial activities.Reconciliation of Accounts:Perform monthly bank, cash, and credit card reconciliations.Reconcile balance sheet accounts (e.g., debtors, creditors, and inventory) to ensure accuracy and completeness.Accounts Payable and Receivable:Process and manage supplier invoices and ensure timely payment.Issue customer invoices and monitor payments, following up on outstanding amounts.Prepare Trial Balance:Compile and maintain accurate records up to trial balance stage.Ensure the trial balance is correctly balanced, with all accounts reconciled and ready for further reporting.Maintain General Ledger:Post journal entries and adjust as necessary to ensure accuracy in the general ledger.Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial policies.Month-End and Year-End Closures:Assist with month-end and year-end financial closure processes.Ensure all relevant financial documents are in order for audits and statutory reporting.VAT and Tax Compliance:Prepare VAT calculations and ensure timely submission of VAT returns.Assist in preparing tax returns and other statutory financial obligations.Reporting and Financial Analysis:Generate monthly and quarterly financial reports based on trial balance data.Provide support in analysing financial data and identifying trends or discrepancies.Assist with Audit Preparation:Provide supporting documentation and schedules for internal and external audits.Respond to audit queries and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Maintain Internal Controls:Implement and maintain strong internal controls to ensure accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures across all accounting activities.
