A well-established group of companies, based in Stellenbosch, is seeking to employ a qualified SAIPA (or equivalent) AccountantThe successful candidate will be responsible for the accounting function of various companies within the hospitality division, which consists of luxury boutique hotels and guest houses in the Western and Eastern Cape, as well as the Bahamas. The role will report to the accountant in charge of the division, with responsibilities including handling individual company accounts, preparation of management accounts, and financial analysis and reporting.Duties & ResponsibilitiesYour value to the group / responsibilities will include:Preparation of individual company accounts from source documents to management accountsRegular VAT returns and year-end reconciliationInvoicing and billingReconciliation of bank accounts and general ledger accountsResolution of un-reconciled items and non-standard transaction treatmentPreparation of punctual and meaningful reports across business linesAssistance with preparation of annual budgets and business plansImplementation of systems, processes, and controlsAnalysis of monthly and quarterly accounts for reporting processesMaintenance of control schedules across group accountsAssisting with annual audits and liaison with external auditors and related tasksDesired SkillsAccounting degreePreference will be given to professional qualifications in the financial field (AGA, SAIPA or similar)3 years' experience in an accounting role or similar experienceExperience in the hospitality industry preferredStrong numeracy and Excel skills, as well as practical experience with accounting systems (Xero, Pastel, Sage, VIP)Self-motivated and disciplined with attention to detailMust be able to multi-task and adhere to deadlinesWorking knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulationsKnowledge of multifunctional units advantageous
