Accountant / Junior Account Manager

An Irish accounting firm is seeking a highly motivated and independent Accountant to join their team remotely from Cape Town. Being their first hire in South Africa, this position offers the potential to develop into a leadership role as the South African office grows, with opportunities to manage junior team members and take on greater responsibilities over time. Key Responsibilities: Client Accounting: Prepare and maintain monthly management accounts, accounting records up to the drafting of financial statements, review accounting statements and expense reports for accuracy and compliance for a portfolio of clients. Client Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, responding to queries and advising on accounting matters. Tax Compliance: Preparation and submission of tax returns including VAT, payroll, corporation tax, and income tax. Internal Coordination: Collaborate remotely with the Irish office and other departments to meet regulatory requirements for clients. Business Development: Identify new business opportunities, and assist in converting leads into projects, contributing to the growth of the South African practice. Leadership and Mentorship: Support and guide junior team members as the team expands and take initiative in driving process improvements and contributing to long-term strategies for the South African office. Qualifications and Experience: Qualified Professional Accountant (SA) / CGMA / in-progress CIMA 3+ years of experience in a practice environment Be able to work remotely and independently Microsoft Office and Xero proficiency is a requirement Salary: R40 000 - R55 000 per month | R500 000 - R660 000 per year
