The Role
The accountant will support the Finance Business Partner. The incumbent will fulfil crucial accounting duties and provide oversight of other finance resources.
The extra capacity and oversight at a senior level is very much needed and provides added succession planning options within the team.
The role also diversifies the risk of single point dependencies and spreads core processes and tasks like revenue assurance, banking, oversight and signoff on key processes.
Skills and Experience
Financial Management
Assist with financial records in accurate and effective manner in accordance with accounting standards and procedures
Comply with internal controls that ensure accurate record keeping and the safeguarding of assets. Make and implement recommendations for improvements where appropriate
Ensure that the principles of good corporate governance are applied at all times
Assist with clean and effective annual audit
Ensure adherence to Group policies and procedures
Identify, recommend solutions and implement improvements to processes and procedures including appropriate documentation
Facilitate cash flow and cash flow forecasting
Facilitate effective cost measurement and control
Assist with financial analysis and insight for consideration in decision-making
Assist with analysis and management accounting reporting to aid decision-making, new business acquisition, pricing and profitability reviews.
Assist with the divisions Cash Flows, Fixed Assets, General Ledger, Reporting, Management Packs, Budgets, Forecasts and Audit.
Financial Reporting
Assist GM & Head of Finance to effective and timeous production of monthly management pack and presentation for submission to group
Ensure that the GM and Head of Finance has all required information and explanations for the monthly review
Assist with submissions for Monthly Review Pack
Budgeting, Forecasting and Annual Business plan
Assist with a full bottom-up budget and consolidate into the divisions annual business plan
Highlight risks in respect of the achievement of the business plan
Human Resource Management
Co-manage the financial department, promoting the achievement of planned team objectives and targets by ensuring that the finance team has a high performance culture
Ensure that training and development needs are identified and actioned
Contribute to a pro-active environment where the managers and subordinates take responsibility for results
Ensure team diversity is embraced and that transformation is pro-actively driven
Other
Qualifications and Skills:
Relevant Financial qualification: B.Com / Degree
3 - 5 years' financial experience
Advanced Excel
Financial- and staff Management would be advantageous
Analytical orientation and skills – absolute attention to detail is crucial
Ability to interpret data and effectively translate to information and intelligence
Good communication and presentation skills
