Accountant

Job DescriptionA commercial insurance company requires an Accountant with 2-3 years of post-graduate work experience for a 4-month project. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in the day-to-day running of the cashbook and treasury function and provide close assistance to the Financial Manager. Must be available immediately.Responsibilities:Complete daily bank balance schedule and communicate timely with all respective parties.Execute inter divisional bank transfers.Capture cashbook transactions.Month-end capturing and reporting:Fixed AssetsSundry debtors and accounts receivable invoicingCapture operational and other bank accounts (Call, Money Market and related interest income)Prepaid expensesAudit fee accrualsIntercompany loansAd-hoc monthly journalsLoans and receivablesPreparation of reconciliations of respective balance sheet accounts of the above.Assisting with audit requirements, preparation, and collation of documents for audit.Liaise with internal and external auditors, where necessary.RequirementsDiploma in Accounting / BComUp to date IFRS knowledgeCompetence with Microsoft Excel2 - 3 years of post-graduate work experienceKnowledge of insurance industry advantageous but not essentialExperience with Sage Accpac preferableStrong accounting knowledgeAttention to detail is crucialExcellent interpersonal (verbal and written) skillsAble to work well under pressureTime management skills essentialTeam player but able to work independentlyFriendly and professional mannerConfidence in working with people at all levels in a companyComfortable with changeInnate problem solverLives the company values
