Details of the offer

Main purpose of the job: To be responsible for the accounting function and the management of accounting support staff through the adherence of WHC accounting policies and procedures, as well as the review of all audit files and reconciliations and financial reportingLocation: 31 Princess of Wales Terrace, Parktown - JohannesburgKey performance areas: Effective review of transactions, schedules, requisitions and reconciliation Ensure the adherence to the departmental and company financial requirements and take corrective action where necessaryCheck and compile files and reportsSupply supporting docs for audit samples, coordinate audits and follow up with any outstanding support requested from the teamsReview and capture transactions and journal entriesSign-off the checklist and all schedules/recons as evidence of preparationEnsure that administration and ad hoc projects are completed timeouslyBuild and maintain good client relationshipsWork with the site to correct bank accounts in overdraft timeouslyFinance to ensure TB is cleared before account closure (e.g.
Balance sheet items- VAT, Assets transferred, debtors etc.).
Closure letter sent to banking teamQuery reimbursement amounts with payroll, ensure supporting documents are received, clear salaries and wages control account.
Clear all rounding difference entries in the Salaries and Wages control AccountDaily review of EMPV for compliance, review allocation to GL accounts and check on long outstanding EMPVs then follow up with Creditors and GrantsRequest recons for E-Wallets/Petty cash and Pro Cards and support from sites and ensure expenses are captured.
Conduct Petty Cash Counts Twice year including Financial Year endRequest recons for FNB Debit/Credit Cards and WesBank and support from Sites and ensure expenses are capturedProcessing of Subawards financial reports via journals.
Follow up with Grants monthly on outstanding ReportsProcessing of Monthly Income & Man Fee JournalAccurate and comprehensive financial reporting Analyse records to ensure that the TB balances, balance sheet allocations are correctReview and manage the Creditors age AnalysisKeeps the Manager informed of issues and activities related to accounting systems and staffPreparation of Monthly Balance Sheet ReconsEffective management of accounting support staff Understand the structure of the finance department in order to gain insight into staff responsibilitiesEffectively manage work processes to maintain high levels of productivityCreate an environment that fosters teamwork and co-operation amongst team membersRequired minimum education and training: BCom Accounting Required minimum work experience: Minimum of 3 years accounting experience, with Microsoft Excel experienceDesirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: Experience on any accounting system essentialA good understanding of accountingAt least 3 years of managing staff experience will be advantageousMust be a team playerGood time management skillsOrganised, systematic, pro-active, adaptable, deadline drivenAble to handle large volumes + prioritise & work under pressure with attention to detailWilling & able to work additional hours when necessaryExcellent communication skills (both written and oral)Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clientsTO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.Please Apply Online and complete your registration on Ditto Hire (our application tracking system) to enable and protect you as a candidate to accept the new POPIA terms and conditions.
