Job Title: Accountant –TotalEnergies Renewables Southern Africa Location : Cape Town, South Africa Workplace : Tyger Valley Chambers 2 Domain : Finance Contract Type : Regular Position Experience : Minimum 6 years Context & Environment Regular interaction with internal departments, external parties, vendors, and staff.
Maintain strict compliance with local laws, regulations, and company policies.
Work in accordance with TotalEnergies' rules, procedures, and policies.
Key Activities Accounting Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and group accounting norms and procedures.
Post entries using in-house accounting software and ensure accurate recording of general (P&L, BS) and auxiliary accounts (vendors, customers).
Oversee the timely and accurate closure of accounts on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Prepare balance sheets, income statements, and quarterly group reporting.
Compile statutory books and liaise with local auditors for statutory audits.
Tax Manage tax payment and reporting, ensuring compliance with tax filing requirements.
Collaborate with third-party tax compliance providers and liaise with tax authorities.
Prepare corporate tax returns in close cooperation with the Group Tax department.
Stay updated on tax regulations and advise management on necessary actions.
Treasury Oversee day-to-day cash and liquidity management, ensuring operational and capital needs are met.
Prepare bank reconciliations and process vendor payments from multiple accounts.
Collaborate with both subsidiary and group treasury departments for effective fund management.
Analysis & Reporting Gather, analyze, and interpret data for financial inquiries.
Summarize findings and present actionable insights to stakeholders.
Other Tasks Handle ad-hoc requests from management.
Ensure compliance with HSE policies, actively contributing to affiliate and company HSE objectives.
Report risks, accidents, or near-accidents to the HSE department.
Requirements Candidate Profile Qualifications & Experience 5–8 years' experience in an accountant role.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related disciplines.
Professional certifications like CA (SA), ACCA, or CIMA are advantageous.
Skills & Competencies Proficient in Excel; knowledge of SAP is a strong advantage.
Strong ethics, reliability, and analytical skills.
Goal-oriented with excellent active listening and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks effectively.
