reports to the Finance Manager, EMEA (Financial Operations) and supports the SOX compliant end to end finance and accounting operations, analysis and reporting process under US GAAP for EMEA Traditional and Financial Solutions business.As a critical foundation to the quality, integrity and completeness of the US GAAP reported results for EMEA, the position requires the experience and demonstrated aptitude for understanding the life cycle of a financial transaction through its various phases of 1) initiation from the front office, 2) execution on administration platforms, 3) accounting within the general ledger, 4) reporting in management information reports and reconciliation between these respective phases.The role requires a high level of personal accountability, a commitment to accurate and timely execution in accordance with a reporting timetable and the ability to formulate inherent expectations of the underlying business and identify, resolve or where necessary escalate variances from trend.Further a collaborative approach and the ability to work with and communicate effectively with Administration, Valuations and other corporate teams is necessary.ResponsibilitiesFinancial OperationsAssists the Finance Manager, EMEA (Financial Operations) and the Head of Financial Operations to meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders as well as meet internal and external reporting deadlines for all EMEA regions by:Ensuring the validity, accuracy and completeness of financial reporting master data populated from treaty information input to administration systems by the administration teams.Monitoring technical cash in suspense and input into the administration system suspense account and reconciling between the two, monitoring and actioning to mitigate risk relating to outstanding debtors and promote efficient working capital management.Develop and maintain relationships with EMEA administration / operations teams and provide accounting/financial support as required.Prepare weekly interim operational finance review models to monitor the impact of new administration processed items and identify variances from trend and/or anomalies that require validation in advance of month end close processes.Understand and/or prepare reconciliations between client statement information and administration system entries on an ad hoc basis as required.Prepare and post manual journal entries for traditional and financial solutions business and the applicable internal retro in compliance with treaty terms as required.Perform reconciliations between the administration systems and the general ledger (PeopleSoft).Prepare reconciliations of technical general ledger accounts in accordance with the relevant financial operations close SOX narrative and be able to formulate and post adjusting manual journal entries as required.Compile analysis files for review of treaty level results monthly and assist the Finance and Accounting Operations Manager to understand significant or unusual movements therein with the EMEA administration/operations and EMEA valuations teams based in Europe and South Africa to ensure the validity, accuracy and completeness thereof.OtherLiaising with other internal teams, including Administration, Valuations and other corporate teams.Any other relevant task or project as directed by the Finance Manager(s), EMEA (Financial Operations), the Head of Financial Operations, EMEA, and others as required.Skills & AbilitiesAttentive to detail, analytical;Excellent time management ExperienceRequiredBachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting/Finance.A professional accounting designation is preferred (CIMA/CPA/ACCA)PreferredAt least 2 years' experience within a similar team.Proven reinsurance experience is a definitive advantage.Ability to work to deadlines and execute instructions in advance thereof.Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Previous experience of preparing and posting manual journal entries and using a general ledger system.Previous experience of using a reinsurance administration system.Good time management skills with ability to take full responsibility for assigned tasks from beginning to end.Proactive in own development, willingness to embrace new concepts and challenges.What you can expect from
