Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing financial reports, performing account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, assisting with audit preparations, and performing other accounting duties as assigned. This role is vital in ensuring our company's financial health and helping us meet our financial goals.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Record Management
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
Prepare and review journal entries and adjustments to the general ledger.
Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
Financial Reporting
Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
Generate management reports and analyses to assist in strategic decision-making.
Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
Budgeting and Forecasting
Assist in the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and analyze variances.
Provide insights on cost-saving opportunities and financial efficiencies.
Tax Preparation and Compliance
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns in compliance with tax regulations.
Assist with tax planning to minimize tax liabilities.
Liaise with external auditors and tax advisors.
Audit and Internal Controls
Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and support documentation for external audits.
Perform internal audits to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Implement and improve internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Accounts Reconciliation
Perform account reconciliations for bank accounts, credit card statements, and other accounts.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
Ad-Hoc Analysis and Support
Provide financial analysis and support for special projects.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve financial reporting.
Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
2-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
Experience with accounting software (Sage Pastel preferred).
Skills:
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
