About the job AccountantOur client, a dynamic company offering auditing and accounting services and tax and business advice, has an opportunity for an accountant in Stellenbosch.The position is at a middle management level, reports to the Partner/Director, and requires an applicant with absolute integrity and excellent communication and leadership skills, who will ensure the professional stature of the firm.The successful candidate will ensure a high level of service delivery standards to clients.ResponsibilitiesPerforming and reviewing independent reviews of small and medium-sized private companies and groups.Reviewing bookkeeping to trial balance and monthly reconciliations.Completion and submission of statutory returns (VAT, PAYE, DWT and IWT).Submission of tax returns via e-filing.Preparation of salary schedules and payslips.Preparation and review of financial statements according to IFRS for SMEs Companies/Closed Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.Responsible for measuring and implementing financial controls to minimise business risk.Calculation of tax liability for Companies/Closed Corporations/Trusts/Individuals.Management of statements and accounts.Various reconciliations (Debtors and Creditors).Stock/Inventory reconciliations.SARS related queries.Registration of VAT/PAYE and Income Tax.Payments on behalf of our clients.Preparation of fees, budgets, and quotations.Achieve team, individual budgets, and business performance objectives.Formulating professional development and educational plans for junior staff members.Bi-annual merit evaluations of trainees.Required SkillsStrong MS Office and accounting software skills.Good communication and interactive skills.Excellent problem-solving skills.Effective team management skills and functioning within a team.Effective time management skills.Required EducationA SAIPA accredited degree.Completed SAICA or SAIPA articles.
