We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised individual to join our team as an accountant and Finance Analyst. The ideal candidate will be a rising star, keen to take on challenges and gain valuable experience. You will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day accounting tasks, and ensuring the overall financial health of our clients and partner organisations' bookkeeping. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, accounting processes and procedures, analytical and reporting skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
Responsibilities:
Financial Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero), including submissions to Companies House.
Prepare accurate profit and loss accounts, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow statements.
Analyse reporting outputs and monitor monthly trend analysis.
Support clients with finance and accounting queries.
Record daily financial transactions, including purchases, receipts, and payments.
Post journals for UK payroll as well as prepayments & accruals.
Assist with UK Payroll process ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
Regular reconciliation of balance sheet items.
Review & filing of VAT returns with HMRC.
Assist with reviewing stock-takes if required.
Process and manage accounts payable and receivable functions.
Reconcile vendor statements and address discrepancies.
Prepare and send out invoices to clients and customers.
Record sales and manage credit control.
Manage petty cash and expenses.
Identify & prepare proposed payment runs.
Set-up and process payment runs.
Communicate with suppliers and manage remittances.
Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues.
Assist in the preparation and monitoring of cash flow forecasts and budgets.
Provide support in analyzing financial data to identify trends and potential areas for improvement.
Generate and analyze financial reports for management review.
Prepare month-end statements.
Ad-hoc reporting & analysis as required, including weekly operational reports where appropriate.
Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information and support their needs.
Communicate effectively with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders.
Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
Propose and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Be part of a best-in-class finance function.
Seek continual improvements in processes.
Gain a full understanding of all relevant systems.
Ensure systems are linked with accurate data flowing.
Identify & resolve gaps in knowledge through training.
Requirements:
Proven experience as an accountant or in a similar role.
Solid understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with HMRC and Companies House in the UK.
Education and Certification:
CA preferable.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Professional Bookkeeping or Accounting Qualifications is a plus.
