A well established business is looking for an Accountant with 3-4 years experience to join their team.
Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for handling and overseeing the day-to-day accounting requirements of the Group. He/she will work closely with different accounting teams with particular emphasis on bookkeeping and maintaining of accurate accounting records to enable delivery of accurate accounts and periodic reports for a portfolio of companies. The Accountant will lead by example and ensure the Finance Team lives up to the values of the company. He/she will support the finance team members to ensure they are performing at their highest level and are continuing to grow in their capabilities.

Responsibilities
§ Leadership
• Set the tone for the Finance Team to ensure it lives up to the company's values in the pursuit of world-class excellence.
• Stay in tune with colleagues day-to-day to ensure that everyone is positioned to succeed in their roles.
• Create a collaborative and supportive environment within the Finance Team so that all colleagues feel part of something special.
• Work with the Group Finance Manager to establish clear metrics that will guide the department to know how it can excel.
§ Preparation of accounts
• Ensure the preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and reports for operational management.
• Assist with Commentary and Investigation of Fluctuations monthly.
• Responsibility for all journals and final GL balances including review of month-end balance sheet reconciliations and control accounts.
• Assist accounting team in the preparation of the financial statements of the given portfolio.
• Coordination of external audit activities.
§ Budgets and forecasts
• Preparation of budgets, forecasts and business plans and continued monitoring and review of performance against them to enable robust reporting of variances to the Finance Manager
§ Payment Processing.
• Ensure that payments are complete and accurate before processing.
• Manage the office petty cash; prepare petty cash reconciliation and replenishment requests.
§ Tax Filing and Compliance
• Ensure entities are always compliant with all Revenue Authority and Government Bodies' Regulations by:
• Timely filing of statutory payments.
• Timely submission of tax returns (i.e. PAYE, WHT, WVAT, VAT and import duty).
• Keep the Finance Manager up to date with the status of any Tax issues and correspondence with the Tax Authorities in all Rocket jurisdictions.
§ Bookkeeping
• Enter all transactions daily into the accounting software to facilitate accurate and reliable reports.
• Reconcile all ledgers monthly and ensure that month-end closing procedures are followed and properly documented.
• Ensure 100% compliance with internal controls.
§ Revenue Accounting
• Billing of customers.
• Collection and Follow up of customer debts.
• Reconciliation of customer accounts and disbursement of customer statements on a monthly basis.
§ Payable
• Collection of Invoices from Suppliers
• Reconciliation of Supplier accounts and statement of accounts monthly.
• Process and manage commission schedules.
• Ensure payment to suppliers on time.
§ Fixed Assets
• Maintain the fixed assets register.
§ Banking
• Perform daily bank reconciliations.
• Efficiently manage the company's banking practices.
• Cashflow Preparation and Monitoring
§ Additional Tasks
• Support all offices on accounting related matters as and when required by the Group Finance Manager.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
§ Bachelor's degree from a credible university in Finance, Accounting or any other business-related course.
§ Qualifications as a Certified Public Accountant.
§ Work experience with a good track record of up to 1 year in an Accounting Department or Audit Firm that required high-performance and adherence to meeting strict targets and deadlines is favored.
Highly capable and competent new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
§ Financial skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Xero are preferred
