The role will be based at our Head Office in Cape Town and will report to the Retail Finance Manager III.
Job description
MAIN PURPOSE
To ensure annual capex and profit targets are met by planning, directing and coordinating financial support to the property department, with particular focus on improving operational efficiencies in the cost base and improving monthly reporting.
JOB OBJECTIVES
To develop strong business partnerships through which business objectives and overall budget adherence is achieved in an environment of transparent business dealings.
To support the business in making informed decisions by producing, distributing and presenting monthly, quarterly and annual financial information.
To support the business during the planning and forecasting processes ensuring that risks and opportunities are well balanced.
To ensure compliance to financial policies and procedures and enforce a strong culture of financial control.
Capex
To manage capital spending through capex approvals and accurate forecasting.
To compile the monthly capex and business review reports, clearly indicating deviations to targets and drive investigations and appropriate actions as required.
Review projects for correct allocation of capex highlighting variances to budget with recommendations.
To ensure that the financial viability of projects is aligned to business objectives by ensuring the return on investment for capex is achieved.
Leasing
To ensure that lease records are correctly created, updated and maintained in SAP Real estate.
To follow up on lease payment variances facilitating lease payments between the leasing team and the accounts payable teams.
Minimum requirements
EDUCATION
CIMA, B.Comm or CA (SA)
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years of relevant Finance experience, preferably in the Retail industry in a JSE Listed company.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Highly analytical and very skilled individual.
Excellent IT skills including advanced Excel, familiarity with any ERP system and business analysis tools (SQL, Tableau or Power BI a strong plus).
Good communication and presentation skills.
Flexible and a team player.
Must be self-motivated, self-directed and be able to work under pressure in a fast paced team environment.
