Job DescriptionA company in the renewable energy industry seeks to employ an Accountant / Bookkeeper to join their dynamic team.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and experienced in managing complex financial operations.
You will report directly to the Finance Manager and play a key role in supporting the company's financial integrity.
Suitable candidates need to have a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of accounting experience.Responsibilities:Financial Reporting:Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.Ensure accurate and timely closing of monthly accounts across all entities.Support audits by preparing necessary documentation and responding to auditor inquiries; ensure timely resolution of audit findings.General Ledger Management:Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.Oversee and reconcile accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank accounts.Maintain the fixed asset register, conduct asset counts, post depreciation journals, and review for additions and disposals.Conduct month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journals (accrual, prepayments, and depreciation).Management Accounts, Budgeting, and Forecasting:Assist in preparing budgets and financial forecasts.Monitor budget variances and provide detailed analysis to management.Collaborate with department heads to ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.Assist in the monthly preparation of management accounts as delegated by the reporting manager.Taxation and Compliance:Prepare and submit tax filings (VAT, payroll taxes, corporate tax) and liaise with tax advisors.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax legislation to ensure compliance with changing regulations.Cash Flow Management:Manage cash flow, ensuring timely payments to suppliers and accurate reporting of cash positions.Maintain weekly cash forecasting schedules to ensure visibility on future working capital requirements.Inventory Management:Conduct regular inventory reconciliations between physical counts and recorded stock, investigating and resolving discrepancies.Monitor and report on stock levels, ensuring correct valuation and provisions for obsolete or slow-moving items.Other Duties:Assist in the procurement process by overseeing supplier quotes, purchase order creation, and delivery to relevant locations.Support the logistics process by managing documentation required for international shipments and coordinating with freight forwarders and suppliers.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related fieldStrong communication skills in English and AfrikaansMinimum of 5 years of accounting experienceExperience in managing multiple entities and handling complex inter-company transactionsFamiliarity with Xero accounting softwareAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft ExcelStrong knowledge of accounting principles and financial regulationsExcellent organisational skills and attention to detailAbility to work independently, show initiative, and manage multiple tasks simultaneouslyBackground in the telecommunications sectorPositive attitude with a proactive and solution-oriented mindsetStrong time management skills
