CORE PURPOSE OF JOB The core purpose of the job is to coordinate, develop and facilitate learning and teaching development activities at the George campus in accordance with the principles and vision of the Teaching Excellence cluster of the LT Collabs of Nelson Mandela University.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS To coordinate and facilitate learning and teaching development activities on the George campusTo implement the Induction programme for newly appointed lecturers on the George campus in collaboration with the coordinatorTo coordinate the teaching evaluation programme on the George campusTo holistically support collaborative curriculum development activitiesTo engage with additional academic enhancement initiatives as assigned by the Director of Learning & TeachingTo conduct research in academic development / SoTL CORE COMPETENCIES Ability to plan, develop and facilitate flexible learning opportunities pertaining to teaching and learning in Higher EducationAbility to initiate and coordinate professional development programmes for staff at different levelsKnowledge of the Higher Education contextExperience of curriculum design and development in Higher EducationStrong foundation in in computer applications and familiarity with technology-supported teaching and learningProven research competency and interest in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Strong communication skills for official reporting and presentationREQUIREMENTS In order to be considered for appointment to this post, candidates must preferably possess an appropriate Masters degree (e.g.
in Education or Higher Education).
A minimum of 5 years experience in Higher Education of which at least 3 must be in the field of academic development.
