Key purpose of the role: The purpose of the Producer role is to direct the assigned show and presenters in line with show and station strategy, manage talent in collaboration with the programme manager, and to strategically build and execute the show content plan across platforms in collaboration with the team.Key outputs/accountabilityEnsure listener calls are screened in accordance with the station's strategy.Conceptualise and workshop show ideas and activations with the presenters and team and follow through with the programming team to execute relevant campaigns or ideas.Gather content during the show by constantly checking various platforms such as Twitter and Facebook and ensuring that content from the show is cross populated onto social media and digital platforms when required.Assess listener feedback of the show by monitoring various platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook etc. constantly during the show.Give direction and feedback to the presenters and team regarding the flow of the show (in line with the show strategy) by communicating with the presenters and team closely during the show.Work closely with the Digital Producer to devise a digital content plan for the show.Consult and liaise with digital content teams to ensure a collaborative approach to developing stories and story arcs across platforms.Provide constructive feedback to the show presenters and team in consultation with the Programme Manager.Ensure all Programming requirements are delivered on as per client expectations and all other stakeholders.Liaise with the Commercial Co-Ordinator and CS team on all promotional activities on the station.Generate and share proactive commercial opportunities with the CS team and the Commercial coordinator on a weekly basis.Liaise with the Programme manager to ensure all strategic content and commercial objectives are met.Aircheck the show on a regular basis.Ensure all administrative tasks are undertaken for the daily running of the show.Manage the output for the show by giving the presenters a full brief before the show, reassuring them during the show and making sure that the presenter is informed about all aspects of the show.Attend daily show and programming feedback/planning meetings, as well as weekly commercial meetings.Set up content and commercial activities and produce the show's final running order.Oversee the process of the daily updating of the station's website with the show content.Educational qualificationsRelevant tertiary qualificationRequired knowledge and experienceSenior level programming experience (minimum five years).Understand the workings of the studio (including ability to operate the technical aspects of studio – studio console etc.).Strong leadership skills.Ability to motivate others.A strong ability to drive innovation and creativity.Ability to work with on-air talent and Producers.Strong verbal and written communications.Ability to facilitate two way and group communication.Ability to operate in a demanding creative and analytical environment.Ability to set and manage deadlines.Microsoft Office proficiency.Good knowledge of music radio format.Knowledge of the SA and regional radio market.Talent management experience.Required skillsBasic computer literacy including word processing, internet, e-mail and other broadcast programs such as Phonebox, the Prizes System and SMS line.Good organisational skills.Experience in using industry standard photo, audio and video editing software.Extensive current affairs knowledge.Ability to identify interesting topics for Radio in line with the radio station and show's strategy.A network of contacts within the media and entertainment industry.AttributesGood interpersonal skills.Proactive.Ability to work under pressure.Attention to detail and ability to multi-task.Quick creative thinker and solution-driven.Must be able to take initiative, be highly accurate and able to meet strict deadlines.Must play in the New Media environment and be comfortable with online platforms such as, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SoundCloud and be online savvy.Passion for creating media properties that engage listeners and build audience.Team player.Assertive.Ability to inspire and lead.Enthusiasm.Determination.Perseverance.Adaptability.Suitable candidates will be selected in accordance with Primedia Broadcasting's Employment Equity Policy.
