Waste Water Operator - AutomotivePort ElizabethOur client in the manufacturing industry is looking for a Waste Water Operator to assist in the operation and control of the Paint Plant Pre-Treatment and Waste Water Department. The Waste Water Operator reports to the Paint Plant Supervisor.KEY PERFORMANCE AREASOperate water treatment and chemical feed equipment at designated locations: Before painting process (pretreatment), waste water and 'Basecoat and Clearcoat' (system tank, sludge scraper).Operate water recovery and harvesting for the supply of DI water to all equipment within the paint plant facility.Performs water analysis and/or collects samples for preparation, labelling and shipment to a designated laboratory for analysis.Works with PLC controls understands water process treatment design, instruments and control panels (Line Guard).Conducts preventative maintenance and calibrates feed pumps, controllers, feed rate charts and maintains log sheets.Maintains the inventory of spare parts and adequate supply of consumables, sample containers, and shipment containers necessary for routine operation as well as special sampling and analysis.QUALIFICATIONSTertiary Qualification in Chemical Engineering or related fields essentialExperience in Chemical environment and/or Pre-treatment of paint processes would be advantageous2 years' experience in Paint preparation systems would be advantageousExperience in Water treatment plants and Pre-treatment FacilitiesThorough knowledge of waste managementOTHER REQUIREMENTSComputer literacy.Able to exercise initiative and to work unsupervised and with a team.Good communication and strong problem identification and solving skills.Ability to learn and reapply skills on the job.Must be flexible and prepared to work shifts and overtime as per operational requirements.Must be flexible and prepared to work in any other department as per operational requirements.
