IntroductionApplications are invited for the position of Trainee Flight Procedure Specialist based at Bruma, Johannesburg. The successful applicant will be reporting to the Chief Designer. Overview: To conceptualise, design and develop safe, efficient, effective and environmentally considerate Instrument Flight Procedures in accordance with ICAO DOC 8168 Volume I and II and Annex 6 criteria. Draft Airspace and Aeronautical charting, on behalf of both internal and external customers to ATNS. Liaison and Project management in consultation with the client.
Major ActivitiesInitialize and prepare drawings as required by the Flight Procedure SpecialistAssist the Charting Specialist in the preparation of drawings for charting purposesDesign Flight Procedures and Airspace as per internal processes and procedures, including ICAO DOC 8168 Vol II and ICAO DOC 9906 Vol I and ICAO DOC 9613 criteria accepting responsibility and accountability that designs are produced in accordance with the relevant criteria and the SACAA Manual of Procedures, that designs are compliant for the safe operation of aircraftConduct obstacle assessments against Flight Procedures according to ICAO DOC 8168 Vol II and Annex 14 criteriaMaintain documentation as per ISO and ATNS filling systemCommunicate AIS service available to potential and existing clientsProvision of accountable advice and input to internal or external stakeholders regarding new, existing, amended or suspended instrument flight proceduresPreparation of information regarding flight procedure design activities within ATNS at workshopsCollate and document all relevant information/data associated with the design of flight procedures as part of the preparation of the Procedure Design Package in accordance with SACAA TGM Annexure AEnsuring timeous delivery of projects through monitoring and updating of project managersMinimum QualificationsGrade 12 with Mathematics and ScienceCore Content or equivalentBASIC PANS Training including On-the-job-training (Advantage)Project Management (Advantage)3 years experience within the Air Traffic Service Operational EnvironmentDesirable/Advantageous ExperienceAir Traffic ControlCAD or Procedure Design Software experience is advantageous to this positionGood spatial orientationDesired attitude to interact, exchange, harmonize and improve in order to assure a good, safe and efficient product to clientsSurveying/Aeronautical surveying knowledge/experience is advantageous to this positionATNS is an equal opportunity employer that strives to achieve a diverse workforce broadly representative of our people.
