Technical Accountant

Malander is seeking an astute Chartered Accountant to hold the position of a Technical Accountant for a client based in Polokwane for a period of 7 months. The Technical Accountant will be responsible for assisting with year end, and assist in the preparation of a credible set of GRAP Compliant Annual Financial Statements for auditing.Key Responsibilities:Provision of Accounting Services:Reconcile General Ledger Accounts;Rectify all prior period errors and correct opening balances;Address all audit findings;Prepare GRAP Compliant Financial Statements for the college;Ensure that all directives and Standards are adhered to in the AFS;Reconcile all balance sheet items;Address audit queries during the audit;Adjust the AFS when required;Preparation of AFS lead sheets;Assist the college's finance staff in clearing suspense accounts;Compilation of the Audit file;Transfer of skills.Inventory:Assist in preparation of inventory reconciliations (issued vs GL);Review inventory captured against the general ledger and perform reconciliation;Propose journals for inventory;Assistance with the 3rd quarter and year-end inventory counts for both textbooks and consumables;Investigate and correct prior year inventory audit findings;Other adhoc inventory related work;Assistance with developing internal controls around dispatching of inventory across 5 delivery sites;Transfer of skills to the college inventory unit officials;Produce detail reports of work done.Debtors Management:Assistance with clearing and of student debtors' suspense account;Assistance with validation of unknown deposits;Debtors provision computations.Disclosures:Compilation of disclosure schedules;Ensuring completeness of disclosure notes.Qualifications and Experience:CA(SA).;Public sector experience.
