Main purpose of the job: To timeously collect, and accurately collate wastewater and clinical surveillance data to support uptake and use of all surveillance data by district and provincial public health teams, and to report on how wastewater data is used in the process of public health decision-making Location: NICD, Sandringham - Johannesburg Key performance areas: Liaise closely with the NICD and other clinical diagnostic laboratories Ensure timely delivery of wastewater and all NICD surveillance reports to the district and provincial teams Conduct counselling, as specified in the relevant surveillance or research protocol Assist epidemiologists with collation of surveillance reports including clinical and wastewater results for district and province Ensure timeous and correct collection of specimens where require as per protocol Check, capture and update patient information onto relevant database systems to ensure matching of the analytical results and demographics Produce regular, and ad-hoc statistics and reports as dictated by the project activities or as required by line manager Liaise with any other stakeholders as necessary, and directed by supervisors to ensure timely and accurate collation of data Required minimum education and training: Diploma or Bachelors Degree in Nursing or related field Must have a valid driver's license Required minimum work experience: Minimum of 4 years post qualification experience in the relevant field and 2 years research/surveillance experience Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities: HPCSA registration would be advantageous Knowledge of surveillance and research methodologies Should be proficient in using MS Excel and Outlook (Microsoft Office packages) Should be knowledgeable in Good Clinical Practice Epidemiology/Public Health experience would be advantageous Should possess interpersonal skills and be a team player Experience in public sector communicable disease surveillance or immunization programmes would be advantageous TO APPLY: Only if you do meet the minimum job requirements and experience as mentioned above, you may submit a detailed updated CV.
