Supply Chain Director

Job category: Transport, Logistics and Freight Contract: Permanent Remuneration: Market Related EE position: No Introduction We are seeking an experienced Supply Chain Director to lead and optimize our Supply Chain functions across Customer Service, Master Production Scheduling, Inventory Management, Warehousing, and Distribution.
This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and cost-effective movement of products from production to the customer, supporting the company's commitment to excellence in service and operational performance.
Key Responsibilities Lead Operational Excellence: Manage the end-to-end supply chain process, ensuring all areas—from demand management to distribution—are aligned with business objectives and meet customer service level agreements.
Optimised Capacity Planning: Work with the manufacturing Director to ensure efficient and effective use of productive capacity.
Oversee Distribution: Direct the management of primary and secondary distribution services across South Africa, ensuring adherence to budget, optimal cost control, and KPI achievement.
Warehouse Management: Supervise warehouses in key locations (Durban, Pinetown, Cape Town, Johannesburg), ensuring they meet contractual obligations, health and safety standards, and cost targets.
Strategic Optimization: Drive strategic supply chain interventions, expanding into new markets in Africa and Australasia, and lead optimization projects within the South African supply chain.
Health, Safety, and Environment Compliance: Ensure all distribution and warehousing facilities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including maintaining ISO14001 SABS standards.
Minimum Requirements Educational Background: BCom Honours in Supply Chain Management, Economics, or an MBA/MBL.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years at an executive level in a supply chain role within the manufacturing sector.
Technical Skills: Extensive knowledge in end-to-end supply chain processes, demand planning, transportation, warehousing, ERP, MRP, WMS, and 3PL management.
Project management experience is essential.
JD Edwards experience is advantageous.
