He / She will be responsible for all laboratory related tasks, on site laboratory tasks. He / She shall be responsible for the implementation, maintenance and improvement of our quality systems to ensure that the laboratory functions smoothly, with excellent quality of service, saving manpower costs, which contribute to accuracy, productivity and profitability.The ideal candidate for this position will be disciplined, treating colleagues and management with respect, deadline & revenue driven, and possessing enough energy and passion to maintain good staff relationships. A successful career in delivering performance against agreed strategic objectives is essential, ensuring that all quality and testing methods are observed, and any deviation is reported without delay.Job DescriptionReporting to the relevant Regional Manager, the Senior Site Laboratory Manager is expected to:Manage laboratory production planning on site and meet deadlines.Liaise with clients and the relevant regional manager.Ensure reporting is correct before signing and distribution.Implement quality control systems and Health and Safety regulations in and around the laboratory.Oversee a multi-disciplinary site laboratory including soils, concrete, asphalt, seals, and aggregates.Adhere to all quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system.Assist technicians with any job, whether on site or inside the laboratory, as per instruction from the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager.Perform any other reasonable tasks as assigned by the authorized site supervisor/laboratory manager and regional manager.Follow all SGS policies and procedures on site, including but not limited to payroll, leave, and disciplinary procedures.Provide training for all staff as training needs are identified.Ensure all SGS mandatory training (OI Toolbox/Annual Integrity/Social Media etc.) is completed as required.QualificationsRelevant National Diploma and 10 years relevant experience, or relevant NQF 6 and 10 years relevant experience. Drivers License OR Grade 12 and 15 years relevant experience, or relevant NQF 4 and 15 years relevant experience. Drivers License.Additional InformationCompetent and qualified to perform all tests (TMH 1 and SANS) in all laboratory divisions including soils, asphalt, seals, concrete, and aggregates.Competent and qualified to implement quality laboratory control.Competent and qualified to supervise and execute all field work.
