Our client in the Durban South Area is looking for a Service Technician to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems, switchgear, and network systems. A comprehensive knowledge of both electrical engineering and network programming is a prerequisite.
Key responsibilities:
• Site Readiness
• Network Proficiency: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of various networks, including Profibus, Profinet, AS-I Bus, Fibre-optic, Wireless, Modbus, and Ethernet.
• In-house Manufacturing Support
• Installation Tasks: Conduct installations of Electrical Panels, Networks, Instruments, and Switchgear.
• QCP Document Control: Manage and update Quality Control Procedures (QCP) documents.
• Standby support for emergencies
• Network Design
• Technical Sales Support
• Support in Internal FAT of RIO and PLC Panels: Assist in the internal Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) of RIO and PLC panels.
• Sales and Client Engagement
• I/O and Loop Checking
• Fault Finding and Documentation
• Project Management Compliance
• KPI Targets and Job Management: Meet and exceed KPI targets as set by management.
• Compliance (Risk) and Safety with Method Statements: Guarantee strict adherence to industry standards, regulations, and safety guidelines throughout the design, implementation, and operational phases of automated systems.
• Onsite and Offsite Training and Support: Deliver extensive training and technical support to clients' personnel on the operation and maintenance of electrical and networking systems, both onsite and offsite.
Qualifications and Skills:
• 5 + years' experience as a Service Technician in a production or manufacturing setting.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
