Mission/Core Purpose of the Job
The Senior Specialist: BI Reporting and Analytics will ingest and analyze data from multiple sources and create reports to translate business needs into meaningful insights. Responsible for using innovative and modern tools and techniques to automate the most-common, repeatable, and tedious data preparation tasks and reports. Supports the senior leadership with insights, management reports, and analysis for decision-making processes.
Job Specifications/ Minimum & Preferred Requirements
Education / Business Degree
Minimum of 3-year tertiary degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
Fluent in English
Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years' experience in a BI reporting and analytics environment, with experience in a complex, technology-oriented industry.
Minimum 5 years working with SAS, SQL, Python, R (or similar), Power BI.
Minimum 5 years' experience working with complex data and performance frameworks.
Minimum 3 years working experience on big data environments, tools, and techniques.
Experience in scripting languages and advanced analytical software to solve complex business problems.
Experience working in a medium to large organisation.
Training

Tactical Implementation
Align all operational activities undertaken in the department to the organization's strategic objectives.
Drive best practices, iterative improvements, and innovation within Finance.
Develop deep insights into reporting to support improved awareness in the organization.
Provide recommendations to various stakeholders and influence future decisions based on advanced analytics.
Data and Technology
Ensure reporting is in accordance with MTN Group standards as per the Risk and Control Framework.
Strong ability to design, build and manage data pipelines focusing on encompassing data transformation, data models, metadata management etc.
Responsible for all aspects of data integration, data architecture and maintaining best practices within RAFM.
Collaborate with BICC in ensuring compliance and governance during data use.
Lead data driven project teams by serving as the senior technical thought leader; working with various business units to translate project goals into analytical and reporting requirements.
Build predictive and analytical data marts with high dimensional and dynamic data.
Effectively communicate analytical reports to stakeholders.
Data Analysis
Utilise big data analytics to analyse data and extract meaningful business insights.
Defines and supports ETL, data, and business intelligence architectures.
Model complex business problems and discover business insights using analytical software and visualization techniques.
Investigate trends, identify behavior patterns, and anomalies in the data.
Proactively mines data lake to identify DQ issues, trends and patterns and generates insights for business assurance streams.
Communicate results of analysis to business partners/stakeholders and executives.
Continuous Improvement
Creation of automated reporting for all major revenue streams.
Develop usage and access control policies in collaboration with BICC.
Partner with other BI specialists in continuous improvement processes impacting data quality in the context of a specific use case.
Recommend ongoing improvements to the BI landscape.
Support control development on an ad-hoc/when required basis.
Engage with business teams to find opportunities, understand requirements, and translate those requirements into BI solutions.
Collaboration / Coordination
Collaborate with business assurance teams and various stakeholders throughout the organisation to ensure reporting and analytical needs are met.
Collaborate with other functions across the business to ensure effectiveness of analysis conducted.
Collaborate with data engineers and platform architects to implement robust and real-time solutions.
Reporting
Translate business needs into automated reporting requirements.
Reviews all data/reports on a periodic basis and ensures it is properly classified according to use, sensitivity and importance.
Supports the senior leadership with management reports, and analysis for fact-based decision-making.
Create reporting of control coverage, control performance and report control gaps (both Primary and Secondary).
Integration of multiple data sources into a centralized reporting platform.
Accountable for stakeholder & executive reporting and dashboards.
Prepare reports on operational performance and detailed reports on specific projects when required.
Communicate to the business assurance functions the various predictions and findings through effective data visualizations and reports.
Responsible for creating a report catalogue with metadata management.
