Reporting to the head of the business unit the individual will be responsible for delivering projects, securing new and maintaining existing clients and promoting the values of Turner & Townsend.Our people are the key to our success and are our most important asset. Senior Project Planner / Senior Planner you will join our mining unit to provide services that help our clients devise strategies to deliver successful business solutions.Job DescriptionThe program scheduler is responsible for developing, managing and updating the project schedule, progress reporting, highlighting risk/ issues and review contractor schedule & reporting. Senior Planner will be required to fulfil the following duties;Develop, maintain, and update Level 1 – Level 3 integrated project schedules in Primavera P6 Professional.Develop Project Master Schedule and Project baseline schedule.Prepare and continuously update the Basis of Schedule (BoS) documents to support the Baseline Schedule.Coordinate with the Owners Team and Contractors to provide schedule inputs and obtain resource loading details for the schedule.Schedule meetings with all Key Project Stakeholders to obtain accurate information for schedule development.Keep all the planning, scheduling and progress data up to date to support the monthly project reporting, monthly progress meetings, and any audits conducted on the projects.Conduct schedule quality analysis to ensure it complies with good scheduling practices.Communicate with the Project Manager on receiving regular updates on Contractor activities.Update the Project Master Schedule regularly to provide schedule update reports to the Key Project Stakeholders. Identify any areas of concern and forecast the latest dates for key milestones based on the current performance trends.Provide the latest forecast dates to Project Controls for cost planning on the project.Review and approve Contractors' schedules to be integrated into the master project schedule.Review the performance against schedule baselines on a regular basis.Participate in reviewing scope changes and the like; carrying out schedule impact analysis when required.Assist Functional Leads on matters related to planning and scheduling issues.Conduct / participate in the regular schedule and progress meetings;Maintain schedule records required for the compilation of the final project closeout report; andAct as the focal point for providing project feedback into the benchmarking and databases.Provide inputs needed for Quantitative Risk Analysis and run "What – If" Analysis as per the project needs. This includes critical path analysis, 3-point estimate, and risk mapping, continuously and proactively identify the time and cost-related risks, issues, and lessons learned arising throughout the project in their respective domains and immediately.Report updates to the identified issues on at least a weekly basis.Actively support and participate in the periodic risk, issue, and lessons learned review meetings with the Project Manager.Provide schedule information to support decision.Gather key information from Project team to establish schedule.Establish milestones and key deliverables for project to measure progress.Create Baseline schedule to measure progress against.Update schedule weekly or as needed to identify progress.Provide input to the development of the scheduling plan.Establish schedule and monitor throughout life of the project.Identify activities for schedule improvement to minimize overall schedule durations.Evaluate contractors' schedules prior to integrating into the Project Master Schedule.Evaluate and analyze schedule and provide recommendations for decision making.Provide schedule "look ahead" to keep the team in line with future happens.Maintain and manage the schedule and provide regular updates on schedule slippages.Develop and provide core information and input for gateway reviews as required.QualificationsSenior Planner should hold the following qualifications;Minimum 5 years' experience as a Project Scheduler in the Construction industry, preferably in Mining and Engineering projectsA university degree in Construction Management/Economics, Quantity Surveying/ Engineering, or related fieldA formal undergraduate qualification is mandatory.Must be skilled in the use of industry accepted scheduling software (P6 and MSP) along with the standard Microsoft applications; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Registration with the below affiliations will be added advantage:AACE International1) Earned Value Professional (EVP)2) Planning & Scheduling Professional (PSP)PMIProject Management Professional (PMP)Have the following skills;Advanced knowledge in the use of Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.Good technical knowledge of Construction and Mining.Proficient in standard Microsoft applications; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.High presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.Good organization and ability to multi-task.Detail orientated and proactive.Time management and ability to work to tight deadlines.Problem solving and the ability to make informed and rational decisions.Ability to work within a team in a fast-paced environmentAdditional InformationJoin our social media conversations for more information about Turner & Townsend and our exciting future projects:It is strictly against Turner & Townsend policy for candidates to pay any fee in relation to our recruitment process.
