Senior Environmental Scientist

Job Description
A medium sized Consulting company with international offices is looking to hire a Senior Environmental Scientist.
Minimum requirements:

A degree in Environmental Science/ Management
A Project Management certification would be advantageous.
5-8 years in conducting impact assessments specifically within the mining industry.
5-8 years in environmental legal auditing (NEMA, NEMWA, National Water Act and MPRDA)
Knowledge of Applicable Environmental and Mining legislation.
Knowledge of IFC and World bank principles would be preferable.
Must be in possession of a valid passport and drivers' license.
Willing to travel throughout Africa and elsewhere, as the need arises.

Your responsibilities will include:

Effectively project manage and administrate the following:
o Basic Assessments and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs) according to the new EIA legislation (2010)
o Waste Permitting
o Environmental authorization processes
o EIA and EMP report writing.
o Mining Applications
Working in close collaboration with specialists from other disciplines.
Liaising with clients and authorities.
Compile and write reports for submission to the client and necessary authorities.
Carry out legal audits with regards to relevant legislation.
