Senior Claims Handler: Uninsured Liabilities (JG8)Date: 4 Oct 2024Location: Cape Town, Western Cape, ZASantam Legal Claims Solutions (LCS) has a position available for a SENIOR CLAIMS HANDLER who will be based in BELLVILLE, CAPE TOWN.JOB DESCRIPTIONThis position requires the skills of a dynamic individual who has experience in Short Term Insurance, specifically in a Legal, Claims environment, as well as competency in general policy knowledge.The Senior Claims Handler will be responsible for managing a portfolio of uninsured liability claims end to end and negotiating with uninsured third parties. The individual will be responsible for ensuring correct settlement application on these claims as well as the requisite financial transactions associated therewith.In addition to managing their own portfolio, the Senior Claims Handler will be required to take on additional responsibilities which will include handling higher quantum and complex matters, driving housekeeping measures, process compliance, governance, and handling escalations.The following accountabilities are applicable:Liaising with clients and third parties.Conducting detailed investigation on the merits and quantum to establish negligence.Attending to escalations from clients and third parties.Liaise with brokers, administrators, underwriting and other relevant parties to the claims process, building a strong and effective, professional relationship.Provide exceptional client experience.QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCEMatricRelevant Law or Commerce Degree/ in progress5+ years short-term insurance experienceKNOWLEDGEComprehensive short-term procedural and practice knowledge (especially related to Motor Vehicle Accidents)Comprehensive policy knowledgeComprehensive applicable legislative knowledge as well as the law of evidence and principles in law (e.g., law of apportionment of damages)Technical knowledge of the Santam processes.COMPETENCIESWorking with peopleClient centric orientationAdapting and responding to changeAttention to detail and accuracyDeciding and Initiating actionPerformance under pressurePlanning and organizingProblem solvingNegotiating and getting agreementVerbal CommunicationApplying Expertise and TechnologyABOUT THE COMPANYSantam is the market leader in the general insurance industry in Southern Africa.
