Senior Business Analyst (Asset Management) | Contract Job SummaryWe are looking for a self-motivated individual to join the Institutional IT team as a business analyst in delivering quality software that will create an exceptional user experience for our end-users.Allan Gray Institutional IT team consists of Domain Owners, Architects, Business Analysts, Developers (.NET and SQL), Tester Analysts and IT Operations. The team is currently made up of four business-aligned domains (Front Office, Middle Office, Fund Operations and Client Servicing). Additionally, the technical IT domain and IT Operations teams support the work of the business-aligned domains.You will work within the Reporting workstream as part of the team involved in the operating model transformation project (Ops Model). The Reporting workstream is responsible for delivering all the required client and internal repotting solutions within the new operating model.Please note: You will be required to be in office for a minimum of 2 full workdays / week or as required by your team. This number of workdays / week is subject to change.Job Responsibilities• Work in the Reporting workstream on the Ops Model project to implement reporting solutions within the new operating model, and as part of a larger IT team using the Scrum methodology.• Collaborate and interact with business & IT stakeholders, Business Analysts, Tester Analysts, Developers and Architects to understand and define solution or architecture needs and impacts.• Elicit requirements and document system and reporting solutions (e.g. process flows, requirements, and functional specifications).• Conduct Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions with developers, business users or test analysts.• Extensive data interpretation and troubleshooting ability - using SQL to understand data impacts and resolve inconsistencies.• Identify trends, patterns, and insights that are crucial for business decisions.• Plan or provide input into designing usable, elegant, practical, and scalable solutions to meet stakeholder needs.• Be involved in user acceptance testing, software testing, and relevant user training.• Plan and manage implementation of solutions, as required.• Train and facilitate end user adoption of solutions.• Support team members in achieving delivery objectives.RequirementsSkills:• Strong analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.• Ability to analyse complex problems spanning multiple areas/systems.• Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.• Strong collaboration skills within the team & with stakeholders.• Ability to deal with and influence senior stakeholders.• Determined and persistent / ability to perform well under pressure.• Self-motivated• Ability to manage personal workload and delivery expectations.• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.• Comfortable with change.• Eagerness to learn & upgrade skills with latest tools, techniques and best practice in data analysis and reporting.• Driven to implement efficiencies.Expertise• Experience in the Asset Management business and processes.• Strong understanding of asset management back-office data and reporting.• A strong understanding of Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.• Intermediate SQL skills.• Proficiency in data visualization tools like Power BI is highly valued.• Understands how applications are constructed.• Passionate about great software.Require a good understanding of• System Development Life Cycle / SCRUM methodology.• Databases, client reporting and/or data analysis.• Problem solving techniques.Minimum Qualification• Relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. BCom, B Bus Science degree).• Min of 3 years' experience in an IT business analysis role in asset management.
