Main purpose of the job: To design and implement research projects and programme evaluations, conduct analysis of data, and publish scientific articlesEnhance routine programme data analytics to inform programme implementationLocation: 7 Esselen Street, Hillbrow, JohannesburgKey performance areas: Write grant proposalsConduct literature review to determine knowledge/research gaps and what research has been doneDevelop research and programme evaluation protocolsConduct programme evaluationsObtain approval from relevant ethics and other regulatory bodiesDevelop quantitative and qualitative research and programme evaluation tools such as questionnaires, surveys, and interview guidesWrite, review and/or approve SOPsTrain the project team and other relevant staffSupervise fieldwork (data collection, interviews, etc.
)Screen participants for study eligibilityConduct informed consent process with participantsExtract data from participant medical recordsConduct data collection and data quality processesData managementStorage and archiving of data according to SOP's (electronic and hard copy data)Adherence to study protocols, GCP, and local requirements for the ethical conduct of research in human participantsSupport the team with any other research related activitiesComplete meeting minutes and keep track of research-related activitiesMonitor progress of research projectsWrite ongoing progress reports as per project reporting requirementsConduct data analysis according to agreed data analysis plan and write up resultsWrite or contribute to peer reviewed publicationsStay abreast with relevant research findingsCollaborate with other investigators on related studies and evaluationsProvide technical support to the Key Populations programme regarding data analysisConduct data analyses on the Key Populations routine programme dataWrite or contribute to conference abstracts and presentationsDisseminate findings from research and routine programme data internally and externally including presentations at research days and conferencesCoach and train team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisationContribute towards the development of knowledge within the team by identifying relevant training needs and topicsDevelop relevant training material and presentationsConduct ad hoc research trainingParticipate actively in journal clubs, workshops, and seminars as requiredPromote harmony, teamwork and sharing of informationTake ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrate effective self-managementFollow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintainedMaintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedbackTake ownership for driving own career development in attending training and development sessions and relevant forums/meetingsMaintain and update knowledge of developments in field and expertiseRequired minimum education and training: Master's Degree in an appropriate disciplineProficiency in Microsoft OfficeExcellent verbal and written skillsDemonstrated experience in implementing research projectsDemonstrated experience with data analysis softwareDemonstrated publication recordQualitative and quantitative data analysis skillsProficiency in statistical analysis software i.e.
STATA or related packagesExperience working with REDCapExperience working with qualitative software i.e.
