Research Technologist (S) Duration: Permanent The South African Medical Research Council, South African Cochrane Centre (SACC) requires a suitably qualified and experienced Research Technologist (Seasoned) to contribute to the activities being carried out by the Knowledge Translation and Training Working Group teams.
Reporting to senior staff, the primary purpose of this position is to support researchers undertaking systematic literature reviews (SLR).
Responsibilities: Supporting reviewers through Design of literature searches/algorithms to be implemented in scientific literature databases (i.e., PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, etc.) Screening of abstracts and full-text articles against defined inclusion/exclusion criteria to assess their suitability for inclusion in the review Setting up, and training in the use of, SLR-related software platforms Managing and coordinating the training activities of the Centre. Coordinating and facilitating workshops Administrative support. Core Requirements: Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification in human biology or related discipline Experience of supporting systematic reviewers Specialized working knowledge of systematic literature review (SLR) methods including SLR-related software platforms Knowledge of MS Teams webinar application Ability to communicate information and ideas, provide research support including liaising with other stakeholders Advantageous: Relevant 4 year tertiary qualification Working experience in clinical trials environment Terms & Conditions: The SAMRC retains the right not to make an appointment.
