Position: Registered Nurse
SCP Radiology – Louis Leipoldt Hospital
Objective:
Will be responsible for all nursing duties to ensure excellent patient care, good business flow and contribute to delivering an excellent service to patients.
Requirements:
Grade 12.
General Nursing Diploma/Degree.
3+ Years' experience in a medical practice.
ICU and/or emergency experience advantageous.
Limited knowledge of X-ray department and Angiography, anaesthesia, theatre.
Bilingualism.
Professional integrity and reliable with a strong sense of responsibility.
In possession of an "Advanced Life Support" certificate.
Driver's License and own reliable transport.
Member of SANC.
Duties and Key Responsibilities:
PATIENT CARE & INTERVENTIONAL:
Assisting Radiographers with IV cannulation.
Managing all emergencies and allergic reactions within the department.
Assisting with patient care in the department (Before, during and after procedures).
Assisting Radiologists with interventional procedures (CT, Ultrasound, and Fluoroscopy).
Obtaining blood results prior to procedures (INR, U&E etc).
Administering conscious sedation and monitoring patients throughout procedures.
Catheterization of patients.
HEALTH AND SAFETY:
Representing radiology in monthly Health & Safety, IPC & SHE meetings.
Implementing health and safety protocols with Health & Safety representatives in the department.
Ensuring the department's Health & Safety files are up to date at all times for Department of Health visits.
Assisting HOD with annual Health & Safety walkthrough conducted by the Department of Health.
STAFF:
Staff training- Emergency Trolley access, Oxygen & Suction, Blood Pressure, Pulse, Hand Hygiene, Documentation, PPE, Infectious Diseases etc.
Keeping staff Hepatitis B records and files updated.
Administering annual Flu vaccines.
STOCK:
The RN will be responsible for ordering scheduled drugs.
Weekly audits of drug books (schedules drugs received, balances).
The RN will be responsible for stock on the Emergency Trolley.
Ordering of stock and medication for MRI anaesthetic lists (if applicable).
Checking and ordering levels of interventional stock.
The RN may assist with stock takes within the branch.
DAILY/WEEKLY CHECKS:
Emergency Trolley (weekly).
First Aid Box (Monthly).
Oxygen & Suction (Daily).
Scheduled Drugs (Weekly).
Any other duties that may be allocated by immediate supervisor from time to time.
No after hour shifts.
