SplashOut has an exciting opportunity available for a Quality Controller to be based in Umhlanga, Durban. The successful incumbent responsible for maintaining and administering the quality function in the signage (and related) sectors. The quality controller will manage and maintain the quality standards of orders or related items through the production cycle or workflow through the various departments, this includes (but is not limited to), digital printing, large format printing, finishing, fabrication, and installations. The quality controller will be responsible for approving all items prior to dispatch.Minimum Requirements3 to 5 years' experience in similar roleValid Driver's LicenseAdvantageousISO9001 KnowledgeResponsibilitiesQuality Control Responsible for the effective management and administration of the quality control function in the following departments (but not limited to):Print Room: ensure that all media and substrates conform to the required specifications. Printed items conform to the required size, colour and colour consistency etc.Finishing: ensure items are completed according to the customer or application requirements, this may include (but not limited to), lamination, trimming, engraving, welding, stitching and installation of fittings and components and other related finishing requirements within the signage industry.Fabrication: ensure all fabricated items are completed to the required specifications, this may include (but not limited to), manufacturing of steel, aluminum, and wood frames. Heat and channel bending. Various types and styles of signage, light boxes, and activations.The quality controller is to work with the Production Team Leader to maintain industry norms and standards, quality management systems and quality audits.The quality controller will be responsible for recording and reporting any deviations to the Production Leader, this may include completing or drafting specific records, paperwork and/or registers along with the required corrective measures.The quality controller will be required to create, implement, maintain and/or edit standard operating procedures and policies to conform to current or future requirements.Familiarity with relevant quality-related manufacturing methodologies and utilization of this knowledge to improve business processes.Assist with Adhoc tasks in the respective business unit.ComplianceEnsuring that required systems, procedures and policies are accurately documented and maintained.Monitor and conduct regular quality audits to ensure all aspects of the factory processes comply with the required quality standards.Collaborate with cross-functional teams or departments to ensure strict adherence to the company's quality standards, targets and expectations.Identify risks and implement mitigating actions and processes.Reporting Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.Document internal quality audits and present recommendations and changes to mitigate risks.Reporting monthly on output, quality related items and current deliverables.Stakeholder EngagementExternal stakeholder engagement.Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.Educating suppliers on the required quality standards.Handle all quality-related queries.TrainingProvide training and support to factory employees on quality procedures and practices.Continuous on-the-job training to create an environment that is evolving and improving.Ensure that all employees understand and comply with the required standards and quality systems.Personality TraitsMust be self-disciplined and deadline driven.Work well under high pressure circumstances.Comprehensively communicate with team members to facilitate production or orders or tasks.Have excellent attention to detail skills and can perform their duties with minimal errors.Demonstrated knowledge of data analysis / statistical methods.Desire fair outcomes and have a general concern for others.High on the measure of conscientiousness, meaning you are methodical, reliable, and generally plan out things in advance.Technical, analytical and have business acumen.Must be able to work independently.Good people skillsHave high integrity and adopt ethical practices in all types of decisions and dealings.Skills And CompetenciesAccountabilityAbility to show initiative at all times.Ability to work under pressure and still produce quality results timeously.People ManagementProblem SolvingTime ManagementPlease be advised that should you not be contacted within 30 days, kindly consider your application to be unsuccessful.
