Job Opportunity: Project Engineer
Our client based in Richards Bay is seeking a Project Engineer to join their team.
Position Summary:
The incumbent plays a key role in the Projects/Engineering department with the primary focus being on:
Installation and commissioning of company equipment at existing customer sites and of other equipment at other sites, where diversification opportunities may arise.
Being an ambassador for FSSA/FSM on site (ensuring effective communication between client & FSSA/FSM).
Following leads with clients related to new business opportunities.
Providing technical assistance to internal and external customers.
This position includes regular travel to Mozambique.
Key Responsibilities:
Define all project execution scopes, work breakdown structures, schedules, objectives, method statements, and project risks involving all relevant stakeholders after receiving a detailed handover from the Technical sales team related to all group products.
Maintain a monthly overview of services budget, monitor variations, and ensure cost control on projects, along with timely invoicing on services projects.
Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
Define and coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
Contribute towards contractor vendor selection and approval.
Oversee multi-disciplinary project teams responsible for the installation & commissioning of company equipment according to FSSA/FSM Standards, within safety, quality, budget, time, and scope targets.
Measure and report on project performance using appropriate tools and techniques.
Perform internal risk management to minimize project risks.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Train operators/supervisors to use company equipment and technicians on how to maintain equipment.
Manage relationships with clients (invoicing, deadlines, milestones, turnover, etc.).
Provide feedback from clients to the Commercial Department to improve customer service.
Coordinate ad-hoc internal projects when required.
Problem Solving:
Implement a mitigation plan to reduce risks during all phases of project or maintenance interventions.
Proactive hands-on problem solving on job sites.
Report and escalate to senior management as needed.
Develop good customer relationships with clients and ensure client satisfaction in terms of planning, quality & meeting deadlines.
Ensure a high level of safety on site.
Qualification:
Engineering qualification (diploma or degree) or trade-tested artisan with a minimum N4.
Project Management Diploma as a minimum (non-negotiable).
Relevant Experience:
7-10 years of multi-disciplinary project experience.
A minimum of 3 years site execution supervision experience will be advantageous.
Proven working experience in project management and organizational skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Projects.
Marketing skills for identifying possible new projects and business opportunities.
Financial comprehension pertaining to budgets and job costing.
Excellent client-facing and internal verbal and written communication skills.
Strong leadership skills involving goal-setting, professional development, and mentorship.
Conflict management skills.
Strong project planning, organizational, and time management skills.
