Do you remember the last time you had a good experience with customer support? What about a bad one? At Local Measure, we are building tools to help businesses ensure that all experiences are excellent ones. We are pioneering the future of customer service technology and empowering organizations to deliver proactive customer experiences that are intuitive and secure. As a member of our small design team you will have a key role in shaping this future. Here are some of the challenges you will be working on:Generative AI's impact on Customer Service - This industry is at the forefront of the rapid shift driven by Generative AI. We are already building useful tools that take advantage of the technology's strengths today. But what will the future look like as capabilities grow and expectations change?
Seamless Asynchronous Omni-channel Communication - I know that's a bit jargony, but what this boils down to is enabling customers to get the answers and support they need from businesses. Where they want and in their own time. It also allows businesses to choose the right channel (voice, chat, email, social) for the right job.
Agent Empowerment & Efficiency - Most B2B and Enterprise software is all about productivity and efficiency. In Customer Service and the Contact Center this is even more important. Everyday, we are thinking about how to give Agents the information and tools they need, right when they need it.
Designing for Enterprise - Large organisations in industries like banking and telecommunications have greater expectations for the level of control and flexibility needed to manage large amounts of data and a large workforce. Whether its providing APIs, flexible permission models or robust reporting, how do we meet the expectations of the enterprise while maintaining the same simplicity and usability of a consumer product?
Design at Local MeasureThe UI and UX of our product is seen as a key differentiator so Design is an important role within the company. As a designer here you will have impact across all stages of product development. You will be embedded in a cross-functional product squad in Cape Town and collaborate with other designers and product squads in Sydney. You will work with product managers to understand our customers problems and how to solve them and work closely with engineers to help bring the solutions to life.
We work fast… designing and shipping in days and weeks, not months and years.
About youWe are not big on requirements lists, but here's a few things that will help you fit the part:
You believe that design is about solving problems not just aesthetics. You're passionate and excited about doing good work. You're curious and love to learn new things. You have proven experience building and shipping digital products in a fast-paced startup environment (particularly B2B or enterprise software). We are looking for strong all-rounders with bonus points for skills or interest in areas like design systems, front-end code, animation or illustration. Aspects of what we design can be pretty technical so having a technical background or being comfortable interacting with APIs and code will also help you succeed in the role.
Working at Local MeasureWe are a passionate and close-knit team of around 50 people head-quartered in Sydney Australia but spread across the rest of world (14 cities and 5 countries). We are flexible in the way we work. The Cape Town team is now 10+ and they work in hybrid environment, working from home most days but meeting in the office one or two days a week.
We are proud of our core values and they are a true reflection of the culture we have built. (side note: the design team played a key role in bringing the core values to life).
But we don't just care about work, we care about each other as people, awesome humans and our health and wellbeing. Therefore, so that we can focus on ourselves, from Feb-November we have a company-wide "Me Day" once a month (yes an extra 10 days off a year).
Because we are a global team with global customers we need to work and collaborate across countries and timezones. This sometimes means shifting work schedules for a late or early meeting. But it also gives us an excuse to get everyone together for LMC, our annual-ish company-wide conference in fun locations like Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia.
