Cape Town, South Africa | Posted on 16/10/2024 We are looking for a skilled Principal Network Engineer to join our team and take the lead on network planning, evaluation, and maintenance across large-scale data networks. This role requires a highly experienced individual capable of designing, implementing, and managing various network systems to ensure the efficient operation of MAN, WAN, and LAN environments. Key Responsibilities: Perform network evaluation, planning, provisioning, and maintenance across Metropolitan Area Networks (MAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), and Local Area Networks (LAN). Design and implement data telecommunications networks, ensuring capacity planning and provisioning for systems supporting approximately 10,000 users. Lead the design and implementation of internet protocol subnet masks, including route summarization. Manage dynamic routing systems, particularly OSPF, and follow strict change management processes. Ensure the successful implementation of outside plant design, cable and line installations, and circuit designs. Requirements Qualifications: Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF7) or relevant vendor certifications (Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel, Nokia, Juniper, Extreme). 10+ years of experience, with at least 3 years in a post-qualification role in network design and implementation. Requirements: Strong knowledge of outside and inside plant design, with expertise in circuit design. Proven ability to work independently, supervise teams, and ensure that network performance meets business and operational requirements. A valid driver's license and own transport are essential.
