Portfolio Accountant
Primary Purpose of the Job
To generate superior returns for our shareholders by:
Providing stakeholders with relevant and timely information to facilitate appropriate decision
making by maintaining valid, accurate and complete financial records and reporting accurate
and complete management accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
Key Performance Areas (KPA's)
Maintain valid, accurate and complete trial balances for properties and portfolios.
Post / review monthly tenant and special journals.
Accrue for expenditure and manage the accrual account on property and portfolio level.
Review arrears to raise appropriate bad debt provisions.
Prepare and report timely, accurate and complete portfolio management accounts with variance commentary monthly.
Assist in decision making by providing relevant insights and analysis on performance trends, payment validity and accurate accounting.
Facilitate the timely, accurate and complete preparation and reporting of budgets and forecasts for both Income Statement and Balance Sheet for these properties and portfolios.
Maintain asset registers and ensure that assets are properly depreciated over time.
Assist management in tracking and driving result / yield improvement on property and portfolio level.
Assist with the take on of properties during the acquisition and development phases.
Reconcile and process the adjustment accounts on disposal of properties.
Review and analyse monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
Facilitate special/adhoc projects to optimize and automate reporting.
Manage junior staff.

Job Experience:
3 years minimum accounting experience
Education:
B. Com / Honours Degree in finance (Desirable)
