Description: Transportation Services supports and manages all forms of transportation on the St. George campus including campus shuttles, parking, parking permits, EV charging and bike sharing. Under general supervision, the Parking Control Officer controls the parking of vehicles on the campus.
TYPICAL DUTIES: In their capacity as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer under the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 150, patrols the campus to monitor and control the parking of vehicles;Issues Parking Violation Notices (PVN's) to vehicles violating parking regulations on University of Toronto property or to the persons who have the care and control of such vehicles in accordance with the procedures of the Toronto Municipal Code, Chapter 150;Issues written warnings to receipt holders to inform them about parking violations.Arranges to have improperly parked vehicles towed;When required appears in Municipal Court in order to give evidence concerning parking violations on University of Toronto property;Advises and assists faculty, staff, students and visitors with respect to the parking of vehicles on campus;Takes responsibility for a parking kiosk on an as-needed basis, selling cash parking, giving directions and information about parking and the University in general as well as issuing PVN's to parking violators in the area;Keeps their supervisor informed by radio communication to advise on and receive direction about situations and incidents with respect to parking on the campus;Assists in clearing cash boxes in parking ticket dispensing machines, transporting and securing funds as necessary; may accompany office staff to the bank to deposit cash;Notifies University police in the event of an unusual (crime-related) occurrence on campus;Instructs drivers on all parking-related matters;Assists, when required, in performing minor repairs and maintenance duties;Operates, when required, a motorized vehicle; this could be to undertake urgent parking surveillance or action or to transport, load or unload parking-related equipment; andOther related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS: Education Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent combination of education and experience.Experience A minimum of two (2) years experience in a customer service position involving considerable public contact in stressful situations; experience in handling cash, making change and balancing; experience in parking control procedures; and experience as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer for the purposes of ticketing would be an asset.Other Excellent communication skills (oral and written);Considerable customer service and public relations skills (tact, diplomacy and discretion);Must be able to qualify as a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer in relation to the Issuing of Parking Violation Notices;Must be in possession of a Provincial Class "G" driver's license in good standing;Must be in good physical condition and be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.Closing Date: 11/25/2024, 11:59PM ET
