JOB TITLE: Operations Supervisor

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Operations Supervisor assists in the manufacture of Raw Active Pharmaceutical Product (API) during production runs, overseeing activities related to the purification and concentration of API. They are responsible for efficient operation and maintenance of all service utilities.
MINIMUM LEARNING ASSUMED TO BE IN PLACE
Grade 12 with relevant experience.
Artisan certification in mechanical, electrical, or electronic fields.
Minimum of 2 years as an operator in a food or pharmaceutical environment
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
Unit processes.
Legal requirements concerning service utilities.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The primary work is conducted in WIP 1 and 2, using equipment that includes:
Reactor Systems (3) with mixing and feed tanks.
Filtration System – 0.02 µ, 400 Da, and 5000 Da.
Evaporation Plant
Main utilities comprise:
Boiler
Air Compressor
Standby Generator
Purified Water Plant (RO Plant)
HVAC System
TYPICAL TASKS
Operate reactor systems on a shift basis, including night shifts.
Coordinate and perform purification and concentration of API per GMP standards and company procedures.
Conduct daily/weekly inspection of utilities, completing associated records.
Inspect other equipment (e.g., ladders, firefighting gear) regularly, documenting results.
Oversee maintenance and servicing of utilities.
Manage a full Preventative Maintenance program.
Ensure in-process controls and QC standards are followed.
Clean the department per procedures and schedules.
Support food and product safety initiatives.
Perform additional production or non-production activities as needed.
KEY RESULT AREAS
Management of Purification and Concentration Processes
Set targets, ensure material availability, prepare SOPs, and ensure compliance.
Maintain timely completion of final API batches.
Optimization of Production Processes and Utilities
Ensure equipment is in optimal condition and processes are continually improved.
System Maintenance
Prioritize occupational health and safety, quality, product safety, hygiene, and GMP.
